Well, Camden’s been back on his medicine for 4 days and still no change. The allergist told me I didn’t have to eliminate all the allergen foods, just take them in moderation, but I’m honestly beginning to wonder if I should eliminate those too. I’m still doing research and I am continuing to learn so much about reflux and allergies. Reflux is such a trial and error. What works for o.ne baby won’t necessarily work for the next baby. I am thinking that maybe Camden’s dosage needs to be increased so I will talk to the doctor about that at our next visit. Many babies have had some relief from chiropractic care so that is my next step….finding a good pediatric chiro for Camden. Apparently every thing can get thrown off in the birth canal, or even being in the womb, and an adjustment can do wonders. Not totally heal them, but it can help relieve some pain.
Nights are still bad. He doesn’t sleep longer than three hours. Most nights it’s every two hours that he’s up, but it can be as often as an hour later. I try to just hold him, but he throws himself backwards, arches his back and just cries. I fear we’ll wake up the whole house so I usually nurse him and this will comfort him for a bit and let him (and me) get some rest. I’m drained and don’t feel like I should be nursing every two hours (or hour!) at night when he goes every four hours during the day. It’s simply a comfort for him.
Meanwhile, Isaac has been diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma. He gets chest pain and tightness whenever he does any physical activity. This is something that I feel has always been there, but it has increased in severity this year. He was complaining every day of the pain. He’s struggling with getting the inhaler thing down and having to do it at school. He’s had it for a week now. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m not sure if when it doesn’t work it’s because it didn’t take a good enough “hit” from his inhaler or if it’s really not doing its job. We’ll see. We may be taking him for allergy testing soon also. He is a mouth breather and I was told how terrible this is by the allergist. He’s congested almost every morning (so breathing through the mouth) and suffers from headaches and sore throats almost daily. It is springtime so it’s allergy season. I’ve started him on Claritin so we’ll see how that works. Eli, who is usually my bad one in the spring, is, so far, good.
Eli is doing wonderful in school. He is sad when the weekend comes because he misses his friends. That’s the best part of school for him, his friends. It’s cute and first-grade friendships. :)
Logan is also doing good. We’re still avoiding the dairy with him as he was getting worse as we were being more willing to let him have it. It didn’t go good and I think his immune system said “Enough!” He’s able to tell us now that his tummy hurts after eating dairy.
So that’s the latest around here….always something. Writing here is really helping me to feel better. Crazy but it gets my thoughts out.
For now I’m signing off. Camden needs a nap and my other boys need to know if they’re allowed to climb down in the “cereal bowl.” Um…probably not but let me check it out. :)
