Overheard

I accidently left my nail polish bottle out on the kitchen counter.  This afternoon I overheard this as the boys were doing homework:

Isaac:  Hey, Eli, do you know how bad nail polish smells?

Eli:   Yeah, which just proves that girls are disgusting.

SPRING!

Here are some signs of spring that Logan has observed:

First and foremost, the cows! 

We take daily walks to see the cows, especially now that there’s a baby. 

Logan has decided he wants to name him “Chocolate.”  This is the second baby calf born.  The first one didn’t make it and unfortunately, the boys are the ones who discovered that fact.  Logan was so sad, even terrified, that he ran all the way back to the house and did not want to go back down there.  Camden kept sadly saying, “Baby cow died.”  Thankfully, another calf was born two days later. 

 

The cows never cease to amaze these two little boys!

Moving on….

Hunter, who looks like he’s dug his grave.  He lays in here all the time and drives Logan crazy!  “Get out of my sandbox!”  I think Hunter likes it because it’s cool.

And a little boy, who currently wants to be a pirate, wearing shorts and a T-shirt!  Can I pack the jackets and snowpants away???  Nah, probably shouldn’t!

Happy Spring!

BOLD

At the beginning of the year, the Christian radio station was asking people to call in and say in one word how they wanted to describe themselves in the  new year.  One word to describe how they would live out their year.

I immediately knew my word:

BOLD.

At the time I found myself faced with a few situations and I wasn’t happy with the way I had handled them.  I was wishing I had portrayed the image of Christ more.   Yet, at the moment, I had lacked the boldness to show God’s love.

So I decided right then and there, back in January, to pray about being bold.  To have the boldness to handle situations as though God is right there with me, but to handle the boldness with God’s love.

Sometimes we can be bold in situations, but we lack love.  It’s in those situations that our “boldness” comes off as rude.  I do not want to appear rude.  I just want others to know about God and His love.  And God needs to be taken seriously.

Not sure how many of you have been watching the news lately, but we’re  living in very uncertain times.  But if you are one to read your  Bible, you know this is all predicted.  It’s the end of times.  We’re living in them.  The Earth is feeling the birth pains.  God is coming soon.

And I want to be ready.

I also want my family and friends to be ready.

I do not want to face God some day and realize I didn’t do all that I could. 

I know too many who say they “know” God, but the actions of their lives tell me differently.  To know God is to have a personal relationship with Him.  You can’t “know” God and choose to do what you also know is wrong.

We’re all human.  God created us all with a plan and a purpose.  When is the last time you asked God what HIS plan is for your life? 

Wake up each day and say, “Good morning, God.  What can I do for You today?”  I assure you that your days will change.  You will have a renewed purpose. 

Ask yourself if you’re living in His will for your life.  Ask Him what you can do to glorify Him.

What is man’s primary purpose?  It is to glorify God!  What happens when we use something for a purpose other than its real purpose?  For example, what if you wanted your teeth whiter and you used white shoe polish?  It wouldn’t work!  Shoe polish is not for whiting teeth!  Things work best when we use them for the purpose they were intended. 

God had a purpose in mind when He created us.  Psalm 16:11 says, “You always show me the path that leads to life.  You will fill me with joy when I am with you…..”  There is joy when you are living according to God’s purpose. 

I am tired of people living for their own purposes.  Some people think their purpose is to make lots of money or only to have a good time.  These people will never feel satisfied.  The joy of money or the joy of fun times will wear off.  When we live to enjoy God, we are doing what God has created us to do and our  joy will last!

I urge each of you to pray for God’s purpose in your  life.  Pray for boldness.  Your boldness in Christ.  Boldness with love.  God’s love.

Or pick your own word.  One word for your year, your year to grow closer to God.  

This is something that has been on my heart and mind for months now.  I hope you are blessed and it changes you.

A walk

Now that the days are getting nice and it’s staying light out later, my boys are wanting to go on “walks.”  A walk around here is usually a hike that is no less than two hours long and almost always consists of going down to the ponds to “explore.” 

Josh says I can let them go down to the ponds by themselves as Logan is constantly asking to go to the ponds because he’s very determined to catch a frog. (Unfortunately, it’s a bit too early for frogs.)  However, I have been down there with those boys and I know what they’re doing when they’re down there and I’ve decided I do not want them down there by themselves.  I don’t care if one is 12 years old and “responsible.”  They’re BOYS!  Do I have to say anymore???

Not to mention, I have fun too.  It’s so much fun to watch them explore and play in the outdoors.  They absolutely love it.  And I love watching them.  I could take my camera with every time and never tire of taking pictures of them.

There’s two requirements when we go on our walks down to the ponds: 

1.  Always wear mucking boots or old shoes.

2.  Always wear old, play clothes. 

Because no matter what, they always come back dirty!

They’re on their way, determination in their steps.

Picking out the perfect stick is always an important thing.

He tries so hard to keep up with his brothers, but he also gets easily distracted so he’s always the last one tagging behind.

This was Logan’s attempt at taking a picture. 

It was about 50, but the sun was not shining.

This is Logan’s frog hole.  He’s “fishing” for a frog!

Follow the leader.

Logan was upset because he fell down in the mud.

Looking for frogs or turtles or anything alive really.

This was their “fort” that they were working on for quite a while.

Working hard.
