We have a skunk friend living in our "cereal bowl." It's been spotted a couple times by others roaming around. I assumed this little creature was here but would move on eventually. Last night we had all the windows open in the house. Josh and I were sitting at the table talking, enjoying the cool breeze coming in. All of a sudden I caught a faint smell of skunk. "Ummm...honey, do you smell that?" He was deep in conversation and didn't answer me right away. The smell continued to get stronger. "Ummm....honey, that smells like a skunk."
I ran over and shut the windows in the great room where it seemed to be coming in. Josh thought the skunk was over by Spud probably. Well, it didn't take long before the back of the house started smelling like skunk. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very strong. Ugh! We shut everything up and I prayed that the smell would be gone in the morning. I recently heard about a family who was renting a house and a skunk was living underneath the house. It sprayed and the whole house smelled like skunk and this family had to live with this awful smell. I was afraid (and I still am) that was going to be us!
In talking with a friend today, I found out that she has the same problem. Only her skunk has been living there for months. Wonderful. So our skunk has probably made a nice little home down in the cereal bowl. It's only a matter of time before the dogs or kids get sprayed. I bet it will happen right when I'm in labor and have no time to deal with it.
I don't like to kill animals senselessly, but I'll have to convince Josh to shoot the thing.....
